A two-day workshop on ‘Introduction to Robotics’ was recently conducted by e-Yantra, CSE Department, IIT Bombay, at the Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu. The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of teachers in the Engineering and Science streams.
The inaugural session of the workshop had Prof Rajnikant, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, as the chief guest. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and keeping up with the latest developments in order to provide quality education to the students.
Prof Kavi Arya, Principal Investigator, e-Yantra, and Professor, CSE Department, IIT Bombay, highlighted the need for hands-on training in the latest technology through the use of robotics kits designed by IIT Bombay. More than 400 robotics labs have been established across the country with the goal of sparking interest and nurturing talent among young engineers to solve real-world problems using advanced technology. e-Yantra, a robotics outreach program funded by the Ministry of Education, is hosted at IIT Bombay.
Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Head of the Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu, explained the various academic and research initiatives regularly undertaken by the department. The workshop was attended by participants from over 20 institutions from different states. The resource persons from e-Yantra conducted the workshop in the computer labs using robotics kits.
The audience was also addressed by Prof Lalit Sen Sharma, who emphasized the importance of hands-on training in robotics for developing interest and skills in this field.
Overall, the workshop provided an opportunity for teachers to enhance their knowledge of robotics and learn hands-on skills using the robotics kits, with the aim of incorporating the latest technology into their teaching practices.
