The Coolest Things Made in Wisconsin: Nominees Announced for Annual Contest

The “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin” contest is back, and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) has released a list of more than 100 nominees vying for the title. While cheese is a given nominee, there are also unique contenders such as a Skee-Ball machine, clothing made from recycled water bottles, a car featured on Jay Leno’s Garage, and drinking glasses with propellers.

Nick Novak, WMC’s VP of Communications and Marketing, highlighted the innovation and hard work of Wisconsin’s manufacturing industry, stating that the nominees not only showcase the state’s cool products but also reflect the career opportunities and economic impact of manufacturing.

Voting for the contest begins with the first round on Friday, which will determine the top 16 products. The chosen products will then compete in Manufacturing Madness, a tournament-style bracket, with the winner set to be announced on October 19.

Past winners of the contest include an electric fire truck produced in Appleton by Pierce Manufacturing and the 140 Ton Navy Crane from Manitowoc’s Broadwind Heavy Fabrications.

Some of the notable contenders for this year’s contest include mushroom gin and gourmet popcorn from Northeastern Wisconsin, ecoMAX Cool from NPS Holdings LLC, All American Canner, ammunition and brass casings from AMMO, Inc., and Tin Can End – Peel & Stick – Valved End from Roastar in Wausau.

The “Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin” contest is a celebration of the state’s manufacturing industry and the innovative products produced within it. It provides an opportunity for people to support local businesses and show appreciation for the creativity and craftsmanship found in Wisconsin.
