Maya Santow, a student at Boston University, was pleasantly surprised to find her favorite study space, the ninth floor of Kilachand Hall, updated and revitalized this fall. The 17-month renovation project, overseen by Campus Planning & Operations, included the addition of a new stair and elevator infrastructure, improved student rooms, and a redesigned ninth floor. Other renovations across the campus include a renovated lobby at the Wheelock College of Education & Human Development, safety repairs on the facade of the School of Social Work/Economics Buildings, and newly renovated classrooms and dining spaces at the Questrom School of Business.
Additionally, the Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences underwent significant renovations, including a new lobby and upgraded classrooms, and is aiming for a LEED Gold certification. The Robotics and Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center (RASTIC) is a new 2,000-square-foot space where students can explore robots in various settings. The George Sherman Union had a sprinkler system installed throughout the complex, and the LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center is set to open by mid-October.
Other projects include a new roof for the FitRec fitness and recreation center and the installation of solar panels at the BU Track & Tennis Center. These capital improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the campus environment and provide students with modern and functional spaces for learning, studying, and recreation.
