New Drone Technology to Be Used at Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe Theme Park

Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, recently announced at the Bank of America Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference that Universal Orlando Resort’s upcoming theme park, Epic Universe, will incorporate advanced drone technology. Woodbury highlighted that Epic Universe will be the most technologically advanced park Universal has ever created, with innovations extending from the attractions themselves to the overall guest experience.

While Woodbury did not go into detail about the specifics of the “next generation of robotics drone technology,” there have been rumors that Universal Studios Florida might introduce a new drone nighttime spectacular. Sources have also indicated that Universal Orlando Resort was in the process of hiring a drone operations manager this spring, fueling speculation about the potential use of drones at their theme parks.

Drones could serve various purposes within Epic Universe, particularly considering the park’s expected emphasis on immersive theming. Apart from potential nighttime shows, drones might be incorporated into other experiences to enhance the overall magical atmosphere of the park.

With Epic Universe set to open in 2025, Universal Orlando Resort is positioning itself at the forefront of technological advancements in the entertainment industry. The integration of drone technology promises a new level of innovation and excitement for guests.
