Fans of the popular video game, Mortal Kombat, can now get their hands on the premium edition of Mortal Kombat 1 before its official release date of September 19. Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games, the game features well-loved fighters such as Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Kitana. It also includes the character Nitara, voiced by Megan Fox. The physical copy of the game is priced at $109.99 and can be purchased from retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. It is compatible with Xbox Series X, Sony PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the 12th installment in the series but serves as the second reboot of its timeline. Acting as a direct sequel to Mortal Kombat 11, released in 2019, the game follows the story of Liu Kang who possesses the ability to reset the timeline and remake the past. While the game is essentially Mortal Kombat 12, the title is a playful nod to the beginning of the series.
The Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 includes early access to DLC characters, one of whom is Suicide Squad’s Peacemaker. Other characters include Homelander from The Boys and Omni Man from Invincible. Additionally, players will receive a Kombat Pack featuring six new playable characters. A bonus skin of Jean-Claude Van Damme, who was originally sought after for the game’s development, is also included for the character Johnny Cage. Furthermore, players will receive 1,250 in-game Dragon Krystals and other features.
For those who prefer to wait, the standard edition of Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. The game will be accessible on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
