Milrem Robotics Unveils THeMIS Combat Autonomous Ground Vehicle Equipped with HALCON HUNTER 2-S

Milrem Robotics, a leading developer of robotics and autonomous systems in Europe, has revealed the THeMIS Combat unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) integrated with the HALCON HUNTER 2-S swarming loitering munition. The unveiling took place at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI 2023) exhibition in London.

The THeMIS Combat UGV, with its mission-proven capabilities, is designed to support dismounted infantry units. Equipped with the Milrem Intelligent Functions Kit (MIFIK), the vehicle offers independent mobility, including features such as point-to-point navigation, obstacle detection, and avoidance.

Jüri Pajuste, Defence R&D Director of Milrem Robotics, explains that the THeMIS Combat, when paired with the Hunter 2-S drones, allows units to maneuver closer to enemy lines. This enables faster engagement of nearby targets or the opportunity to venture farther behind enemy lines to find suitable targets. Using robotic systems in such scenarios is more efficient and faster than deploying manned units.

The HALCON HUNTER 2-S is an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that utilizes advanced artificial intelligence (AI) for coordinated swarm missions. With the ability to follow a predetermined flight plan, collaborate with other drones in the swarm, and loiter while searching and categorizing targets, the Hunter 2-S can engage targets with the approval of a human operator. It has a 2kg payload, a cruising altitude of 500m, a cruise speed of 90km/h, and an endurance of 45 minutes.

This collaboration between Milrem Robotics and HALCON demonstrates the integration of smart weapons and autonomous systems developed by EDGE, a leading advanced technology group based in the UAE. The THeMIS Combat and other robotics solutions from Milrem Robotics can be found at stand number H4-122.
