Keeping up with text messages can be challenging for many people. Whether it’s because you’re busy, easily distracted, or struggle with responding promptly, it can feel overwhelming to manage your conversations. However, there is a handy feature on iPhone that can help you stay organized and remember to respond to important texts.
The pin feature allows you to pin text conversations to the top of your Messages screen, making them easily accessible and visible. When you receive a message that you can’t or don’t want to reply to immediately, you can pin the conversation and unpin it once you’ve responded. This way, you won’t forget to get back to your friends and family, and you can keep track of the conversations that require your attention.
To pin a text thread on iPhone, simply hold down the conversation you want to select from your Messages list. Several options will pop up, including “pin” with a thumbtack icon. Tap on that, and the conversation will be pinned. You can also drag the conversation to the top or go to “edit” in Messages and click the yellow thumbtack icon. You can pin up to nine conversations at a time.
The pin feature is available on iPhones running iOS 14 or later. Previously, you could swipe right to pin a conversation, but this functionality is not available on iPhones running iOS 16 or later.
This pinning feature can be particularly useful for individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). People with ADHD may struggle to respond to texts due to symptoms like forgetfulness and distractibility. Forgetting to respond becomes more likely if messages are out of sight. By pinning conversations, individuals with ADHD can easily see which texts need their attention and increase the chances of responding promptly.
In addition to pinning conversations, setting aside specific chunks of time in your day to respond to messages can also be helpful. Creating schedules and deadlines for yourself can provide a sense of urgency and improve your overall productivity.
