Google and iFixit Partnership Makes Self-Repair Easier for Pixel Tablet Owners

Google has teamed up with right-to-repair advocates iFixit to make it easier for Google Pixel Tablet owners to repair their own devices. Users can now purchase genuine Pixel Tablet components, including batteries, screens, and speakers, directly from iFixit’s website. In addition to the parts, iFixit also provides user repair guides that offer step-by-step instructions on how to install the various components.

Among the components available for purchase is a rear case replacement priced at $199.99. This replacement includes the volume controls, antennas, power button (including fingerprint unlock), and three microphones of the Pixel Tablet. The replacement USB-C charging port is priced at $24.99, while the battery and 10.9-inch LCD screen, which includes the device’s 8MP front-facing camera, are priced at $59.99 and $199.99, respectively. iFixit also offers bundles that include the required repair tools alongside the components.

iFixit’s website provides in-depth repair guides for nearly all of the components available for the Google Pixel Tablet. These guides feature detailed images and step-by-step instructions, making it more accessible for users to repair their own devices. However, users may need to purchase additional iFixit-branded repair equipment, such as suction cup handles and an Anti-Clamp tool, separately or as part of a bundle with the required parts.

Since 2022, iFixit has been partnering with Google to provide genuine components and repair guides for various Pixel phone models, and now the Pixel Tablet is included as well. This partnership empowers consumers by giving them the freedom to fix their own devices without relying on expensive repair services.

Overall, the collaboration between Google and iFixit is a positive step toward promoting repairability and giving users more control over the maintenance and longevity of their devices.
