Agility Robotics, the creator of the bipedal robot Digit, is set to open a new robot manufacturing facility in Salem, Oregon. The facility, named RoboFab, will have the capability to produce over 10,000 robots per year. Construction of the 70,000-square-foot factory began last year, and it is scheduled to open later this year.
Once at full capacity, RoboFab will provide employment to more than 500 workers in Salem, in addition to employees at Agility Robotics’ other locations. The facility will enable the company to increase their production capabilities and meet the growing demand for their robotic products.
Digit, the bipedal robot developed by Agility Robotics, will also be employed at the new factory. Similar to its functions at Agility’s customer sites, Digit will assist in moving, loading, and unloading totes. This integration of robotics into the manufacturing process will enhance productivity and efficiency in the facility.
Agility Robotics is a co-headquartered company in Corvallis, Oregon, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They also have offices in Palo Alto, California. The establishment of RoboFab reflects Agility Robotics’ commitment to advancing the field of robotics and meeting the needs of their customers.
With the opening of RoboFab, Agility Robotics aims to revolutionize the manufacturing industry by incorporating advanced robotics into production processes. Their goal is to manufacture high-quality robots at a large scale to meet the increasing demand for automation solutions in various sectors.
